Should You Post the Same Content on Different Social Networks?
Are you still posting the same content on different social channels?
Now is the time to stop. It is easy to hit the toggle switch and have Instagram automatically post to Facebook or have your website’s content automatically post on social. There are many issues with this but mainly each social channel was made for different purposes and different demographics
Each social channel has a target audience. Facebook is known as mom-book/ grandma book for a reason. 35-year old’s and younger utilize Instagram much more then most social platforms. Snapchat is meant for the millennial/ gen z’ers and Tik Tok is the hot social channel for gen z’ers.
When you look at each of these social platforms and their target audiences, would you talk to them the same in person?
Of course not! So why are you marketing to them the exact same?
Brands need to look at their content calendar and create a social media strategy that focuses on the specific target audience of each social channel. Put yourself in your customer’s shoes and think about what would make them stop scrolling and look at your content.
This is not the time to constantly sell to them. There is a reason why we can separately advertise to customers… that is to sell to them. Do not mistake your organic content on your feeds as a salesperson. This is where you tell a story. You need to get a consumer to love the story behind the brand so much that they want to try the product/ service before they have had a chance to see it in person.
If you are looking to increase sales, then make sure you have the ability to shop directly through social media. Do not make the customer search for where they should purchase.
Therefore, a clear understanding and strategy is imperative to the success of social media marketing. It is easy to get sucked into the tactics rather then trying to solve the bigger issue.
Most brands are looking to increase sales, and each social platform can do this. What brands hear is that they must be on all the social media outlets because other brands have been successful on them. While this can be true, it is better to start off small and then try to do all of them.
Analyze who your target market is and then decide which one or two social channels you believe your brand should be on. Most likely it will be Facebook and Instagram to start. If this is the case, then come up with a strategy with at least three to five goals you want to hit. From there create the campaigns that would help hit those goals. Each campaign should be have two sets of tactics to use on Facebook and Instagram.
Whatever you may do, promise us this… DO NOT USE HASHTAGS on Facebook!
